India, Afghanistan sign pact on Trade and Security
Breaking News! India’s Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and his Afghan counterpart Hamid Karzai signed a pact on trade and security. The treaty came at a time when the tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan are at their peak.
?
Hamid Karzai is on a two-day state visit to India. He acknowledged the threat from terror and radicalism. Although Karzai slammed Pakistan in strong words while in Kabul, he looked more cautious in his approach in Delhi.
?
Afghanistan National Security Advisor Rangin Spanta has already said that Pakistan is using Taliban as a foreign policy tool to destabilize Afghanistan. He also said that the group behind Haqqani network is based in Pakistan.
?
Karzai stressed on the need of a stronger tie with India to fight terror and improve trade prospects in his country. This is the first time Afghanistan has signed a document with any country.
?
The deal will help India build Afghanistan’s security capacities and make sure that Karzai’s country stands prepared to tackle any situation when the international troops withdraw in 2014.
